The Theory of Marxism versus Capitalism During the 19th century two different economic theories derived from two philosophers-economists with varying views on which would withstand the most effective and productive economy.Marxism rested on a proposition and a wager. The proposition is that the core problem facing popular movements in the present time is the capitalist system.Normative Marxism advocates a revolutionary overthrow of capitalism that would lead to socialism, before eventually transforming into communism after class antagonisms and the state ceased to exist.
Differences between Capitalism and Marxism Capitalism is catchall term which pertains to the conduct of market economies marked by adherence to the laws of free trade and private operation.In validating Marx’s theory of historical materialism and the natural progression of capitalism to socialism, one has to consider the events that followed since the time of industrial strife of Marx’s time. Many have argued that Marxist theories have been discredited by history.
Capitalism and Marxism have both shaped the nature, structure and politics of various nations from the industrial age to present day. Marxism developed among the European working class of the 19th century. Marxism is the brain child of German philosopher Karl Marx (1818-1883).
